"Supersonic Business" is sent from me, a Management Accountant, to those that have a leading position in SME's (small/medium businesses), and their accountants. The vision for the newsletter is to share information, tips and tricks to build healthy, thriving businesses from the 'inside out', it is written from the finance and administration perspective.

The Game

My daughters love playing a Roblox game called 'Adopt Me'. This is a game where you look after animals who become your most sincere companions and follow you everywhere.

The girls get deeply involved in trading 'ride-unicorns' for rare 'fly-ride-chickens', or nurturing legendary 'mega neon shadow dragons'.

The Decisions

It is all very involved, it is a fast-moving game of trading your way up the ranks. They need to consider the value of every transaction. They need to negotiate, some times they mess up and realize they made a bad trade, then find out that it's too late. Even if they ask nicely, rarely do they get their prized animal back.

Some times they get scammed, and sometimes they forget to do their virtual 'jobs' properly like feed and wash their pets and don't earn their robux 'money'. In addition to avoiding the bad deals, they need to take care of their inventory and keep control of the opportunities available to them based on their current resources.

My kids are becoming fully-fledged business women!

The Challenge

From time to time they want to buy more Robux which they can use to buy game passes which give special privileges. At this point in time, they need to look in their real money boxes and evaluate the joy they will get from using their 'hard-earned' pocket money on their alternative reality currency vs saving the money for sweets, magazines, Apple pens or other things they claim they want.

My youngest decided the other day to invest Kr 100 (£10) of her birthday money into the game. She did this, and low and behold, nothing seemed to happen. Big time crisis & disappointment. The Robux (bucks/money) she was supposed to get seemed to disappear or maybe it never arrived.

We then spent time desperately clicking around the game trying to figure out what had happened.

Had she really spent all the money so quickly (like in 15 minutes), or had it never been registered? We tried to find our way to the underlying data, ie the list of transactions and were having no luck.

This was very frustrating and felt like a complete waste of time. We knew something was 'off', but were struggling to establish how, why, and what.

We had neither data nor information we needed to sort the issue out. This is an example on a small scale, but it lends itself well as an analogy for exactly what we try to avoid for our customers in Mantle.

Get your data working for you

We set up solutions to remove all the barriers to information, insight, and performance analysis.

We make it easy to drill down from the top-level numbers, cascading effortelssly through different layers of detail and groupings till eventually, you get right down to the crux and can view a copy of the actual original invoice/s.

We aim to make running the 'numbers side' of your business effortless, by creating windows into your data, so that you can see it in a way that makes sense to you. Here we are talking financial and non-financial data, from a historic, but more importantly a future-focused perspective.

All of this with a couple of effortless button clicks once we get things up and running.

We never did manage to establish what happened to the Robux, but the next day they magically appeared so all was well!

Today instead of the normal newsletter format we are going to talk to Espen Palmer Kringstad, our COO about how to get your data working for you.

This is our specialty and where we shine, its what we burn for, and he is one of the guys that makes it all happen, he is one of the cleverest people I know.

I hope in this video you get some insight into how we work and think, and what we have found makes for a successful project.

We do all of this so that our customers avoid the uncertainties and frustrations that go along with manually digging around in different systems to try to figure out what is happening in their business.
